TROETH CONGRATULATES DEAKIN UNI ON DENNYS LASCELLES Victorian Liberal Senator Judith Troeth today congratulated Deakin University on the opening of the Dennys Lascelles Building in Geelong.
“Vice Chancellor Sally Walker and the University have done a wonderful job in bringing together the community, the State and Federal Governments to upgrade this facility, which will double the capacity of the campus and enhance both teaching and research programs,” said Senator Troeth.
“The building itself forms part of the rich cultural history of Geelong, having started out as one of the largest wool baling operations in Victoria over 100 years ago.
“The improvements offer students a modern, clean and spacious facility that incorporates the heritage aspects of the structure.
“Deakin University is a crucial part of the Geelong community, and provides many young people with the opportunity to earn high value tertiary qualifications locally, providing a highly skilled pool of people for the Geelong economy.
“I look forward to seeing Deakin continue to undertake important research and to train and educate our young people.
